Changes in schedule are reserved.
Price: 6500 Euro
All the way in the east of Russia, where Alaska is only 45 kilometers away, Chukotka is located, right at the Bering Strait. Chukotka is an autonomous state in Russia, where the landscape is dominated by mellow hills. During a meeting with film maker Simon Straetker, he showed me pictures and movies of the amazing landscape and afterwards the decision was made, to run a heliski trip there. With the help of our contacts in Russia we were able to organize this unique pioneer heliskiing adventure. In the North of Egwekinot we find perfect mountains for skiing, reaching up to 1600 meters above sea level. If you are interested in joining us to a completely new destination and have an adventurous spirit, this trip is the perfect option for you!
How the trip will run for you
From central Europe we fly to Anadyr via Moscow (Vnukovo Airport). Be aware that the flight from Moscow to Anadyr is 8 hours! UT Air flies this route twice a week. In Anadyr we switch from plane to helicopter (type MI8 MT) and after 45 minutes of flying we reach Egwekinot. In this small harbour town, which is only reachable with a helicopter or boat, our comfortable cottages are located. By the way there is a good infrastructure in Chukotka and there even is a ski lift in Egwekinot. The Russion oligarch Abramovic was governor of Chukotka for 8 years and invested a lot of money in order to improve the living conditions for the inhabitants of this region. Our helicopter is parked at the local helipad and supplied with fuel and maintanance locally. Right behind the town, mountains reach up to 1600 meters and we find perfect skiing terrain of 3000 square kilometers. During the next couple of days we will be able to ski runs, which probably no one else has ever skied before. Depending on the weather conditions we will fly back to Anadyr eather on the forelast or the last day of our trip. We will spend another night in a hotel there and afterwards fly back Moscow. Here we have to spend another night and head back to central Europe the next day.
Special information for this trip
This journey is a pioneer trip! The mountains in which we will be skiing are predestinated for heliskiing. The mountains are even and between 25° and 40° steepness. It is an eroded mountain range, steep drops and unskiable terrain is rather seldom. Due to the northern location the bigger snowfalls are in October, November, March, April and May. At the beginning of May we can expect the most stable snowpack. In the northern slopes we still find powder snow, in the southern slopes we find spring snow. Nobody can say what you will experience during your week. It might be the most fulfilling skiing experience in your life, but it might also become a disappointment if the weather and snow conditions do not meet with your expectations.
